Cancer Awareness Initiative

Don’t Be Stuck is a community-led cancer awareness initiative created with Traveller voices at its centre. Developed by Becky Hatchett Studio through workshops and focus groups with HSE and Traveller communities in Cork and Kerry, the project combines research, lived experience, and clear, plain-language communication.

It supports people to:

• Notice when something doesn’t feel right

• Talk to someone they trust

• Get support early

The work recognises that health decisions are shaped by lived experience, trust, and how people are treated — within the community and by wider systems.

The resources are currently hosted here and are being piloted with the Traveller community.

At its heart, Don’t Be Stuck supports community champions — including Travellers themselves — to have confident, compassionate conversations about health, helping make the first step feel safer and more possible.
